JAMMU: Police on Tuesday seized 500 bags of expiry Dal from Durga Dal Mill and arrested the owner of the mill in violation of Essential Commodity Act.
After receiving reliable information SDPO East Rafiq Manhas, SHO Trikuta Nagar Naveen Angral and In-charge Police Post Narwal Vishal Kumar under the supervision of SP South Udhay Baskar and In-chage SSP Jammu Rajiv Panday conducted a raid in Durga Dal Mill in the presence of First Class Magistrate Bashir Ahmed.
During the raid, police seized 500 bags containing expired date Dalia packets (each bag contain 25 Dalia packets), 156 bags containing Dalia bags having modified/manipulated manufacturing dates, stamp using for writing dates on packets and chemical used for erasing old manufacturing /expiry date on the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 211 under Section 420, 272 RPC, 3/7 Essential Commodity Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort. The seized material i.e Dalia packets are supply for Government Anganwadi centre (ICDS).
The owner of the Durga Dal Mill Sudesh Kumar son of late Tara Chand resident of Channi Himmat was arrested from the spot and started investigation.
