JAMMU: Police on Sunday arrested a drug peddler and recovered herion and cash worth Rs 2.25 lakh from his possession.
As per the details, on April 15, 2018 a party from Police Station Gandhi Nagar established Naka at last Morh Gandhi Nagar for checking/ frisking of vehicles. During Naka, one pedestrian coming towards Gandhi Nagar from Nai Basti on seeing the police tried to escape in suspicious circumstances but the Incharge Naka assisted by other-officials chased and caught hold of him.
During questioning, he disclosed his name as Showket Ahmed Dar son of Gulam Qadir Dar resident of locality near Masjid Sharief, Arabal Dooru District Anantnag, Kashmir and on checking 10 gms heroin along with cash worth Rs. 2.25 lakh was recovered from the possession.
The accused was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 85/2018 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Gandhi Nagar. The drug peddler was already arrested by Punjab Police in NDPS Case last year and is involved in selling drugs to the youth of J&K and Punjab for the last three years.
The arrest and recovery was made by Insp. Sunil Singh Jasrotia SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar assisted by ASI Shesh Pal under supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Sandeeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
