JAMMU: Police on Friday arrested one drug peddler and recovered 21 kg poppy straw from his possession.
According to report, police, during a Naka near Flour Mill, Greater Kailash on National Highway, intercepted one car bearing registration No JK01L/4400 coming from Narwal towards Kunjwani. During checking, police recovered 21 Kg poppy straw which was concealed in cabin fabricated with chassis of the car.
The drug peddler identified as Fayaz Ahmad Malik, son of Gulam Mohammad Malik, resident of Zogipura, Charar-e-Sharif, Budgam District, was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No 115/2017 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat Jammu. The arrest was made by SDPO City East Jammu, Arun Jamwal along with SHO Channi Himmat, Sajjad Mir and Incharge Police Post Sainik Colony, Balram Sharma under the supervision of SP City South, Sandeep Choudhary.
