JAMMU: Police on Friday arrested one drug peddler and recovered 110 grams of heroin from his possession.
According to report, a party from Police Station Gandhi Nagar during routine patrolling duty near Chatri Chowk Gandhi Nagar intercepted one pedestrian coming towards Chatri Chowk.
During checking, police recovered 110 grams of heroin from his possession and arrested him on the spot.
The accused was identified as Mohammad Sharief alias Bittu, son of Sain Din, resident of Pali Tehsil, Hiranagar, district Kathua.
Accordingly a case FIR No 180/18 under Sections 8, 21 and 22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and further investigation started.
“Mohammad Sharief is a habitual criminal and used to bring heroin from Kashmir to sell among the youth of Jammu, Samba and Kathua Districts. He was also involved and wanted in many bovine smuggling cases,” a police official said.
The arrest and recovery was made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia, SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Sandeep Bhagat under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, In-charge SP City South, Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta.
