State Times News JAMMU: The Faculty Members of GMC, Jammu and IGGDC, Jammu, Resident Doctors Association and Junior Doctors have unanimously decided to support the strike proposed by Indian Medical Association on Monday i.e., June 17, 2019 for 24 hours from 6:00 AM on Monday to 6:00 AM (Tuesday). Standing whole-heartedly with doctors of West Bengal and country, the doctors of Government Medical College Jammu demanded that assault on medical professionals on-duty be made a non-bailable offence, punishable with seven years imprisonment. Further, the working conditions of doctors should be further improved for better delivery of healthcare services to general population. In light of their strike call on Monday, the OPD and routine services shall be suspended but emergency shall continue to work as usual. Further, in anticipation, administration of GMC Jammu, after unanimous decision taken by all HoD, has postponed summer vacation of faculty members till further orders. Dr Sunanda, Principal GMC Jammu said that except OPD and routine surgeries, all emergency services shall remain working and all necessary steps for convenience of patients have been taken accordingly. In case, strike is called off, all routine hospital services shall resume with immediate effect, she added.
