STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Reasi in collaboration with Salal Power Station organized a workshop on Ageing with Dignity on Friday at Jyotipuram for senior citizens /aged people residing around Jyotipuram. The programme was aimed at improving the quality of life of the Older Persons by making them aware of their legal rights, government schemes for elderly people and providing them insight on connection between physical , mental and spiritual health which contribtes to their well being. The participants were also apprised about the healthy diet and the lifestyle they need to adopt to enjoy the active and healthy life. Free Medical checkup was also the part of the program wherein Dr. Naveen Kumar, Sr. DCMO, Zorawar Hospital, Salal Power Station with his team of Para Medical Staff checked-up the patients and distributed free medicines. The workshop was inaugurated by Kamlesh Pandit, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Principal District and Session Judge, Reasi in the presence of Rakesh Goel, General Manager (Civil), M. G. Ghai, General Manager (Civil), and the other officials of the Salal Power Station. Speaking on the occasion, Sh Kamlesh Pandit said that elderly people are our roots that support us at the base ground and our existence without them is impossible. We must learn the importance of respecting our elders and make time to listen them and spend quality time with them. He further said that it’s important to remember to be not only considerate but also polite to people whose bodies and minds are aging, simply because of the hands of time. Ageism exists, but being kind and showing compassion is at least one step in the right direction in a world that is often devoid of manners. Faculty for the said workshop were Dr. P.L.
