STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) leader Rydham Preet Singh flanked by Parvinder Singh, Marshal Singh and Aman Singh on Sunday condemned the distortion of Sikh History by one of the Sabhas by bringing discredit to the Great Sikh General Banda Singh Bahadur who defeated Mughals and conquered Punjab and established Sikh Rule. “Lachman Das was baptised into Khalsa Panth by none other than Guru Gobind Singh himself and renamed as Banda Singh Bahadur”, R.P Singh said. “He saved the people of this part of Punjab from the Mughal atrocities which they were suffering for centuries. He awakened the suppressed masses by baptizing them and creating in them the spirit of bravery, nationalism and patriotism. He prepared an army of these victimized people which impounded upon the Mughal forces and defeated them and pushing them beyond Delhi. During Sikh Rule, Banda Singh Bahadur introduced the Sikh Currency and allotted land to the landless tillers which he had snatched from Mughals. He established courts where fair justice was imparted to the victims and made number of other social reforms”, Singh added. Rydham Preet Singh suggested such ignorant people to go through the history of India before making a statement which undermines the contributions and achievements of the great men.
