STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Director Agriculture, P S Rathore on Tuesday reviewed progress of various farmers’ welfare schemes here. Chairing a review meeting of officers, the Director Agriculture impressed upon the staff to make all out efforts for introducing different technological interventions and adoption of improved agricultural practices for enhanced cultivation of various crops. He directed the field functionaries to reach out to farmers’ fields for making them aware of various welfare schemes like Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFSBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology (NMAET-ATMA), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) etc. He asked them to keep them updated with latest guidelines and norms of various programmes to effectively monitor their implementation in the field. The Director also stressed upon the staff to work for full exploitation of potential for cultivation of various agricultural crops to double the farmers’ income. He directed the staff to maintain punctuality as per Aadhaar based Biometric Attendance system and to submit tour notes and work-done reports to higher-ups on daily basis. The Director instructed the Joint Directors and Chief Agriculture Officers to frame committees for conducting administrative inspections, physical verification and preparation of plans under various schemes. Shortage of lower staff and infrastructure facilities at grass roots level also came up during discussions in the meeting. Others who attended the meeting included Bulesh Kumar Zutshi, Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs) Jammu; Anil Arora, Joint Director of Agriculture Extension Jammu; Sunil Koul, Deputy Director Agriculture Trainings Jammu; K K Sharma, Agriculture Economist Jammu; Kiran Bala, Accounts Officer; Chief Agriculture Officers of all Districts, Sectoral Heads, District Agriculture Officers and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers.
