POUNI: Dilear Khan of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) lifted Kahana Dangal Title by overpowering Himachal Pradesh wrestler Johnny in a tough bout that lasted for twenty minutes in the mud Akhara in Kahana Panchayat of block Pouni on Thursday. The winner was awarded with the cash prize of Rs 11,000.
In the second main bout Rehmat Ali beat wrestler Ajay of Udhampur and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
In all, 40 bouts among the wrestlers hailing from Punjab, Himachal, Harayana, Delhi and locals of District Udhampur, Reasi and Rajouri displayed their wrestling tactics. Rakesh Khajuria, Treasurer Jammu Kashmir wrestling Association was the Chief Guest who gave away prizes to winner and runner-up wrestlers.
Earlier, an awareness rally on the theme Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, Beti Ko Khiladi Banao was taken out in collaboration with Zonal Education Officer Pouni under the overall supervision of Sanjeev Kumar Sharma CRP in which budding wrestlers especially female along with parents and students took part.
R.K Maini Retd Dy Director, Education Deptt and Senior Vice President Jammu Kashmir Wrestling Association was the special guest who informed that girls wrestling was the special attraction of the event in which five bouts among women wrestlers hailing from Reasi, Jammu and Pouni were displayed. Ajay Kumar, Social Worker presented vote of thanks.
