JAMMU: Dilbag Singh, DGP Prisons on Wednesday reviewed security and allied arrangements at District Jail Kathua and Sub Jail Hiranagar.
During his surprise visit to District Jail Kathua, the DGP Prisons had an in-depth review of the inner apartments and outer areas of both the jails. He was briefed by the Jail Superintendent with regard to procedures being adopted while dealing with the inmates and their visitors.
DGP Prisons asked the CRPF deployed in the jail to take up additional points where deployment is very much required besides spots identified as security sensitive during the visit.
DGP Prisons during the day-long visit discussed security related matters and told the officers to take all necessary security precautions in view of the prevailing situation in the J and K State as a whole. The DGP Prisons desired to formulate and follow a contingency plan to deal with any external or internal threat. He also discussed the individual problems of both the institutions separately at respective locations of the jails and District Superintendent of Police was directed to keep a contingency backup in position.
The Superintendent of Prison and In-charge CRPF Company were directed to be alert and keep a close liaison with the district and local administration viz-a-viz periodical feedback to the Headquarters. They were also asked to come up with proposals with regard to additional or upgradation of security gadgets. The DGP Prisons showed his overall satisfaction about the working of these two Jails.
SSP Kathua, Sulaiman Salaria and DySP, S.S Sambyal also accompanied the DGP Prisons.
