STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Various political parties mourned the demise of veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister of New Delhi, Sheila Dixit. The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and senior Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed deep shock and grief over sudden demise of veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dixit. “She was a stalwart of party, who served Congress and people in different capacities with great devotion and commitment. Her contributions as the Chief Minister of Delhi for three terms will be remembered for times to come in view of tremendous development brought by her,” he added. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) expressed profound grief and sorrow over demise of former Chief Minister of New Delhi, Sheila Dixit and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved family on behalf of rank and file of JKPCC. Former PCC President, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has also condoled the passing away of Sheila Dixit and paid rich tributes to the departed soul. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President, Omar Abdullah have also expressed grief over the demise of senior Congress leader, Sheila Dixit. The duo, in their message, said that her tenure as the Chief Minister of Delhi will be remembered for her remarkable work in field of infrastructure building, sanitation and increasing tree cover in the National Capital. The duo prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to family for bearing the loss. Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, former Union Minister also condoled the demise of veteran Congress leader. The Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), J&K unit has also expressed grief over the demise of senior Congress leader, Sheila Dixit. In a meeting held here, the Youth Congress activists observed two-minute silence and prayed to the God to give eternal peace to departed soul and give strength to family members for bear this irreparable loss. In his condolence message, Uday Bhanu Chib, State President PYC said, “Sheila Dixit was a visionary and popular face of the party. She has served people of Delhi and Congress to the best of her ability.” Former Minister, Raman Bhalla also expressed deepest condolences on demise of Sheila Dixit. “A symbol of simplicity in politics, who led a humble life, is no longer with us. May her family bears the irreparable loss with courage,” Bhalla said in his condolence message. District Congress Committee (Jammu Rural) also expressed profound grief over demise of senior Congress leader. In a condolence message issued here, DCC Rural President, Hari Singh Chib and Rajni Bala, Corporator ward no 60 condoled the sad demise of veteran Congress leader and described her as a dedicated and sincere solider of the party, who devoted her entire life in the service of people and Congress. “Sheila Dixit was known in the party rank and file for her simplicity, honesty, and dedication towards the service of people, especially the downtrodden and poor,” they said and conveyed their heartfelt condolences and deep sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul in heaven. National Panthers Party also held a condolence meeting in New Delhi to express shock on sudden demise of Sheila Dixit. The senior leadership of the party including Panthers Supremo Prof Bhim Singh, President, Delhi Pradesh Panthers Party, Rajiv Jolly Khosla and several other leaders also condoled demise of the senior Congress leader.
