STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla today held a meeting with the Chairpersons of Block Development Council and Block Development Officers of the district. During the meeting, the Chairpersons raised the issues regarding water, electricity, road connectivity, up-gradation of roads, pending payments under IAY, MGNREGA, revision of schedule of rates etc. They also sought accommodation for their offices, overhead bridge on National highway crossings, meeting of staff shortage in schools and health centres, mobile connectivity in remote areas, up gradation of schools and early estimates of works. The DDC directed the BDOs to identify the vacant Government buildings and make suitable arrangement for office of BDC Chairpersons. He also directed BDOs to submit proposal for funds for completion of incomplete Panchayat Ghars. He further directed the BDOs to formulate design for BDO office building and submit the DPR for all the blocks where office buildings are not available. Meanwhile, the DDC sensitized the chairpersons about the initiatives of government and different rural development centrally sponsored schemes. He asked them to sensitize the public of their area to get maximum benefits from these schemes. While responding to the demands of Chairpersons, the DDC directed the concerned departments to sensitize their field functionaries about the GPDP and ensure their participations in all meetings conducted in the Panchayat. The DDC also said that the Govt has sanctioned stocking of 3 month ration to overcome the shortage in remote areas of the district during the winter. He asked the chairpersons to monitor the distribution of Ration in their respective areas. Moreover, PHE and PDD departments were also directed to keep buffer of transformers, poles and pipes in remote areas to reduce the restoration time of damaged equipment during the winter session. The DDC also informed that DPR for water stress areas is under process and every effort is on to provide water connection to every household under Jal Shakti Abhiyan . The DDC hoped that the BDC Chairpersons and PRI members would make efficient and effective use of the funds being made available to them under various schemes for the development and growth of the district. The DDC further directed the concerned officers to maintain close liaison and coordination with Chairpersons and take the development of the district to new heights.
