STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: District Development Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan, today visited Ukhral block of district Ramban and conducted public outreach programme to take stock of issues concerning welfare and development of locals. The DDC also chaired Gram Sabha conducted by Rural Development Department in coordination with line departments. Sarpanchs and general public of Panchyat Ukhral, Batroo, Pingloga, Senabathi, Pogal, Parisatan, Panchyal, Bingara, Alinbass, and Maligam projected several issues pertaining to power, ration, water, road connectivity, school buildings, blacktopping of roads, installation of new transformers, essential commodities, shortage of staff in education and health institutions. DDC directed the PHE department to ensure adequate water supply to GHSS, Ukharal and other schools. DDC constituted a committee led by Tehsildar Ukhral to keep a check on overcharging by the transporters from commuters. He redressed most of highlighted demands on the spot and directed the officers to redress the problems of public pertaining to their respective departments at the earliest. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner launched ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign at Government High Secondary School to sensitize the public regarding implementation of restrictions on use of Single Use Plastic (SUP). The event was organized by the Education department in collaboration with district administration, Judiciary and the Police department. DDC also flagged off an awareness rally under the campaign from the premises of GHSS which passed through main market Ramban. Meanwhile, sanitation drive was also conducted in the market, school premises and government offices. The DC emphasized the need of strict implementation of ban on use of polythene bags and proper disposal of both bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste. He termed public cooperation as imperative for success of the cleanliness mission and urged upon the public especially students to be part of the drive and take it to every household in their vicinities. SSP, Ramban, Anita Sharma, CEO, AH Fani, ACD, Zaffer Banday, CMO, Dr. Janak Raj, Executive Engineer, PMGSY, Tehsildar, BDO, BMO, PRI’s, officers and field functionaries of various departments besides locals were on the occasion.
