STATE TIMES NEWSKATHUA: In view of 73rd Independence Day celebration, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer today visited District Jail Kathua and distributed sweets among the inmates to mark the occasion. While taking first hand appraisal of the facilities given to the jail inmates, DC inspected healthcare facilities besides checking the quality of the meal prepared for the inmates. He also interacted with women inmates and enquired about their well being. DC underscored the need to give more skill trainings in different crafts to the inmates so that they can utilize their time and talent for constructive works. He directed jail authorities to identify the crafts of inmates interests so that matter with ITI and Social Welfare Department shall be taken up for imparting skill training in the Jail complex. The DC directed jail authorities to provide facilities to the inmates as per jail manual. He assured that the issues raised such as sewerage nallah and provision of better health care facilities shall be taken up with concerned authorities for redressal. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganshyam Singh, Deputy Superintendent Madan Lal Sharma and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
