KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana who is also the Chairman of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (PMKSY) approved an amount of Rs. 468.54 lakh as annual action Plan for the year 2017-18 under PMKSY during a meeting of District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) Kishtwar.
Initiatives for specific areas for construction of water carrying structures (Khuls and HD pipes) including construction of Lal Kundan Mandri Khul, Construction of Gorna Basti Khul, Construction of Ashirar Khul at Marwah, Construction of Hanswar Khul, Rashgwari to Noose Khul, Patthere Naki Kul, Narayan Khul, Remodelling of Gorinal Khul, remodelling of Nagra Khul, Haloti Khul, Ladder Khul, Mandhir Khul, Necha to Karoor Khul, Prabhagram Khul and others areas were also approved.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, ACD Kishtwar, Executive Engineers Irrigation Kishtwar, Chief Agriculture Officer ,PO IWMP Kishtwar, Command Area Development Jammu, NGOs of Kishtwar and Progressive farmers besides representatives of other concerned departments.
After discussion on various components of plan, the meeting approved action plan for implementation of PMKSY for the year 2017-18.
This plan will be submitted to inter departmental working group through nodal officer Jammu and Kashmir PMKSY for sanction of the plan from the higher concerned quarters.
The holistic plan targets approved 14 new irrigation schemes apart from a number of works under rain water harvesting, micro irrigation, augmentation of springs, deep and shallow bore wells, farm ponds, soil conservation and land development.
He stressed on water conservation and directed all the related departments to formulate the location specific plan proposals by keeping in view the needs of the local area in particular and adopt the modern irrigation practices.
DDC Kishtwar directed the departments for comprehensive and organised efforts for concerted and sustained convergence among departments of irrigation, Ground Water, Forests, IWMP, Command area Jammu, Agriculture and Horticulture for effective measures for enhanced water conservation, bringing more area under irrigation and improvement in water harvesting.
