KISHTWAR: Contractor Association Kishtwar held a meeting at Kishtwar on Wednesday under the chairmanship of its President Masood Ahmed Mattoo, in which all contractors strongly criticised the anti-contractors attitude of the management of Chenab Valley Power Project Limited (CVPPL) towards Kishtwar. While speaking on the occasion participants alleged that authorities of the CVPPL are playing with the sentiments of local contractors of Kishtwar by imposing unnecessary terms and condition for qualifying e-tendering of various civil works and also said that there is a proper guide line of J and K Government for qualifying the tender process as per the PWD and other construction works of J and K and that should be followed by CVPPL.
Ravi Kumar Shan Senior Vice President while speaking said that the authority governing the project is functioning from Jammu by spending Rs 8 lakh per month at Jammu, Rs 5 lakh at Srinagar and for the last five years crore of rupees are being drawn in shape of TA and DA which is huge loss in the nation.
He also said that CVPPL is planning construction of the office building at Jammu at the estimate cost 20 crore where Chairman and Managning Director would sit.”There is sufficient infrastructure at Kishtwar whether it is staff residence or office. ”
Masood Mattoo said that CVPPL has appointed maximum staff through back door appointments and demanded CBI enquiry into the matter and also demanded engagement of local skilled and un- skilled workers on priority.
All contractors warned that they would wait for 10 more days, if their genuine demands are not solved, a strong protest will be launched against the management.
Those who were present included Haji Atlaf Mintoo, Abdul Rashid Lone, Mohd.Abass Lone, Rajinder Wazir, Tanveer Baghwan, Ravi Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Amjad Bagwan, Iqbal Agoo, Haji Ghulam Hussain Lone, Abdul Rashid Tappal, Akhter Lone, Jalal Din, Ashok Kumar, Abdul Latief Bhagwan, Mohd Saleem, Zuber Ahmed, Ghulshan Mingnoo, Pyar Singh and Irshad Ahmed.
