AKHNOOR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President and Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma on Tuesday held Congress responsible for the delay in sanctioning and implementing One Rank One Pension (OROP).
Addressing gatherings of ex-servicemen at Akhnoor and Khour, Jugal hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acceding the demand of ex-servicemen and announcing OROP benefits for them.
“With the announcement of OROP by the Union Government, the long pending demand of the ex-servicemen, who have been agitating for it for the past four decades has now resolved”, he said, alleging, ‘It was Congress which has done nothing for acceding to the demand of OROP for the ex-servicemen, who have been rendering commendable services in safeguarding the nation”.
Jugal said, “Congress leaders, who are criticizing NDA Government over the OROP issue, should first self-introspect themselves as for the last many decades they were only playing with sentiments of ex-servicemen for their pity politics”.
“It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who fulfilled the promises made with ex-servicemen during election time, which speaks a lot about his concern about various issues including OROP’, he added.
He maintained that realizing the importance of correcting the wrong of Congress Party and previous UPA Government, the Narendra Modi government and the Prime Minister himself gave a gift to the veterans by announcing OROP.
He called upon the people to know their rights and participate in developmental activities of the governments.
Colonel Raghubir Singh, on the occasion, expressed gratitude to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for showing real concern for lakhs of ex-servicemen and widow pensioners.
District President State Vice-President Col. Uttam Singh, senior leader Brigadier Anil Gupta, Akhnoor MLA Rajeev Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Bishamber Jasrotia, Suresh Sharma, Jagdish Bhagat, Jugal Dogra and Vijay Gupta also accompanied the MP.
Meanwhile, with a demand for the exemption of tax at the Ban Toll plaza, a deputation led by local Sarpanch of the Jindrah Anil Sharma met with the Jugal Kishore.
On the occasion Sarpanches of other panchayats including Jhajjar Kotli Madan Mohan Dubey, Sarpanch Kanhiyala Mohan Lal Mengi and prominent persons of Block Dansal and Nagrota also accompanied them.
During the meet, Anil Sharma raised the problem being faced by the people of local areas, who are forced to pay the tax while crossing over the toll plaza.
Anil Sharma said that the people of Nagrota Block and Dansal block as being the local residents must be exempted to pay tax.
To further elaborate on the logic for demanding the exemption, Anil Sharma referred to the reply submitted by the concerned authorities in a RTI filed by him, wherein it has been categorically mentioned that the residents of the area falling within the 20 Km of radius would be exempted to pay the tax.
Sharma further urged upon the MP to take-up the matter with the concerned authorities to issue a special sticker to the persons, who after showing their identity card should be allowed to pass through the toll plaza, without paying any tax.
MP after listening to the grievances of people assured that he would take up the issue with the concerned authorities as the demand is genuine and in light of the information provided under RTI, the case is now even legally fit for the exemption.
