Senior Congress leaders paying tributes to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru at Jammu.

JAMMU: Rich tributes were paid to first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru in a function held at PCC Headquarters to celebrate his 128th Birth Anniversary here on Tuesday. The function was organised by DCC Jammu which was attended by Senior functionaries of PCC, DCC Jammu urban, Ex-Corporators, Blocks and Ward Presidents of Jammu City.
The function was presided over by Sham Lal Sharma Senior Vice President PCC while senior leaders who paid tributes included former Ministers Raman Bhalla (Vice President); Mohammad Sarief Niaz, Ravinder Sharma-Chief Spokesperson; Rajnish Sharma (Co-treasurer) District President Jammu (Urban) Anil Chopra, Ex-MLAs Indu Pawar (President Mahila Congress), Th Shiv Dev Singh and Ashok Dogra, Zahida Khan, Krishan Lal Gupta, PCC Secretaries Shashi Sharma, Pawan Raina, Manjeet Sigh Jatt, Thomas Khokhar and Nadim Sharief Niaz.
Sham Lal Sharma described Pt Nehru as the tallest leader of this country after Mahatma Gandhi, whose contribution in the freedom struggle and as first Prime Minister can never be forgotten.
He said that contribution of Pt Nehru to bring the State of J and K to the fold of Indian nation can’t be forgotten and there is need to expose the distortions being made by certain forces for vested political interests.
Raman Bhalla also paid rich tribute to Pt. Nehru and described Pt. Nehru as a great statesman and visionary leader who laid sound foundation of modern India.
Ravinder Sharma Chief Spokesperson PCC said we should educate the masses about the principles and achievements of Pt. Nehru and other great leaders of this country and expose the false propaganda of the communal and divisive forces in the State.
Prominent leaders who paid floral tributes included Suresh Bargotra, Ch. Sukhdev Singh, Gajan Singh, B.B Gupta, M.L Malagar, P.S Chouhan, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Dr. R.K Khajuria, Kirtan Singh, Gourav Chopra, J.L Koul, Jai Singh, Dwarka Choudhary, Ch. Maqbool, Michal Wazir, Dewan Chand, Goutam Choudhary, Gulvinder Singh (Deepu) Vijay Sharma, Kulbushan Sharma, Rajider Sigh, Pawan Sharma, Gopal Sharma, Pt. Bodh Raj, Bishwa Nath Manmohan Sharma Jai Dev Singh, Som Nath Sharma, Sandeep Dogra, B.S Sudan, Charanjit Chib and Arun Najotra.
Meanwhile, Srinagar Congress unit also paid tributes to first Prime Minister and recalled his selfless services and contributions to the nation. In this connection, a function was held at Party Headquarters Srinagar which was presided over by former Minister and senior Congress leader Taj Mohi-Ud-Din.
On the occasion, Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes to Pt Ji on his Birth Anniversary and highlighted his great contributions made to the nation.
