STATE TIMES NEWS LEH: First nomination was filed on Monday for Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency, which is going to polls on May 6, 2019. The nomination was filed by Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Rigzin Spalbar. Rigzin Spalbar was accompanied by Congress leaders from Leh including former Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora, DCC President Tsering Namgyal, former MLAs Tsering Samphel and Deldan Namgyal and many Congress supporters to the Returning Officer’s office.
Interacting with media persons after filing nomination, Spalbar said people should weigh candidate’s experience and achievements in the past and should not fall prey to false promises and monetary baits.
“Congress’ ideology is based on Indian Constitution and people should have full faith in it. My priority would be my sincere efforts to bring unity between Leh and Kargil regions and after going to the Parliament I will raise the issues of Ladakh in the Parliament forcefully which has not been done till today” Spalbar added.
He appealed to the people not to forget the contribution of Congress Party in granting Hill Council and ST status to Ladakh.
Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency Jamyang Tsering Namgyal is likely to file his nomination papers on Wednesday while according to reliable sources two independent candidates from Kargil are also likely file their nominations in the coming days.
The last date for filing of nomination papers for Ladakh Parliamentary constituency is April 18, 2019 up to 3:00 PM.
