JAMMU: Panic gripped the security staff and officials when a cobra was spotted on the lawns of high profile Chief Minister’s Residence here.
“On April 18, when Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had to leave for a function in the morning, a cobra was spotted by the staff in the lawns of the residence,” police sources said.
They said that Mehbooba Mufti had to delay her movement for a brief period.
“As the CM was ready to move out, the SSG passed a message to her not to come out as snake has been spotted in the lawns” sources said. They further said that Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Department was informed following which a team immediately was rushed to the spot.
“After nearly 20 minutes hard efforts, the Wildlife team caught the snake,” they added. The Wildlife Department officials confirmed the report about snake asserting that the reptile was a dangerous one as the breed is especially known to become even more poisonous at peak summers.
