STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat (EBSB) Wing of Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu celebrated Matribhasha Diwas here on Thursday to highlight linguistic diversity of our country besides encouraging usage of local languages among people, not only respective mother tongue but other Indian languages as well. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has embarked to celebrate this day across the country. The theme of the programmme was celebration of India’s Multilingual Heritage reflecting spirit of EBSB. The EBSB Club of Cluster University of Jammu carried out different activities; display of books, screening of short-films, panel discussion and small play by students from five constituent colleges and PGI schools of Cluster University of Jammu to make students and others aware of the importance and relevance of their tongue. A documentary on life of Pt Ram Nath Shastri, father of Dogri literature known for his pivotal role in revival and resurgence of Dogri language was also shown, in which his achievements and contributions were highlighted. A melody mash of musical cultural items was also presented by students on the occasion. Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor in her address, highlighted on significance of preserving and promoting our mother-tongue to keep it vibrant and afresh for enhancing regional culture and traditions. Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar further emphasised that objective of organising the programme was to highlight cultural diversity of Jammu and Kashmir. The programme was coordinated by Dr Jasvinder Singh, Nodal Officer EBSB Cluster University Jammu under aegis of Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare with coordination of Principals and Deans of constituent colleges and schools of Cluster University Jammu.
