STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: As a part of ongoing Nationwide campaign on ‘Plastic Mukt Bharat’ under Swachhta Hi Seva, Shramdaan (Cleanliness drive) was organised at Ward No.-6 Bus Stand Basohli, Kathua by Field Outreach Bureau, Kathua of Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, J&K Region. Tilak Raj, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Basohli, Shammi Sapolia, Chairman Municipal Committee (M.C), Basohli, P.R.Sangra, E.O., M.C., Bhushan Shastri, Lect. Sanskrit, GHSS, Basohli, Darshan Lal Councillar W.No. 13, R.P.Bali Councillor. W.No.5, Surinder Singh Jamwal, Councillor, W.No. 2 were prominent among others who were present. The main aim of organizing the Shramdaan activity was to involve common masses in the mission of Plastic Free India (Plastic Mukt Bharat) by inculcating a sense of responsibility in each and every citizen towards cleanliness of surroundings and against Single Use Plastic. Bhushan Shastri, Lect. Sanskrit, GHSS Basohli also addressed the audience and stressed upon the inhabitants of Basohli to change their ways of disposing off the waste. Vijay Mattoo I/C Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Kathua gave a brief introduction of the working and organization of the department and also highlighted the importance of Swachhta Hi Seva. ‘Shramdaan’ activity (Cleanliness Drive) Councillors, opinion leaders, volunteers, locals and workers of Municipal committee Basohli participated to clean and motivate the people of their respective area to help keep their surroundings neat and clean. About 25 dustbins and 100 cloth Bags were distributed by FOB Rajouri among the residents of Basohli Municipality area so as to motivate common people towards using cloth bags and avoiding plastic bags and disposing off their household waste in a proper manner and at proper place.
