JAMMU: A religious function was organized in Gurdwara Digiana Ashram Jammu marking the Chardi Kala of Dera Sant Pura Nagali Sahib, Poonch under the aegis of 108 Mahant Manjit Singh Ji. Besides a large number of Sangat, former Minister Rangil Singh, former Minister Raman Bhalla, MLC from Poonch Pardeep Sharma, former President J&K State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board S. S Wazir, Sant Hardit Singh, Baba Kuldeep Singh, Narinder Singh Raina, Adv Amrik Singh and representatives of various Sikh organizations were also present.
Rangeel Singh said that Dera Nangali Sahib which was founded by fourth Mahant Thakur Bhai Mela Singh Ji, is the epitome of Sikhism in Jammu and Kashmir. Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the Maharajas of Jammu and Kashmir visited this spiritual place and allotted Jagirs which mostly have been washed away in the floods, he said. This Dera was the target of Pakistan attack during 1947 but could not access it by the grace of spiritual saints, he told.
The other leaders also spoke on the occasion and hailed the contributions of Mahant Manjit Singh ji in the religious and educational fields besides doing social welfare of the society irrespective of caste, colour and creed.
Mahant Manjit Singh in his address asked the people to follow the teachings of Gurus, saints and other Godly people and do service to the humanity besides exhibiting their exemplary conduct. He asked the youth to move away from drugs and save their health, wealth and family life.
Mahant Sahib expressed concern that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has not given representation to the Sikh community by inducting its Minister in the cabinet from PDP quota.
Mahant Manjit Singh honoured the newly elected MLC Pardeep Sharma with a Saropa.
