LEH: CEC, LAHDC Dorjey Motup flagged off the exposure tour of women artisans from Nyoma Block under vocational training to artisans (wool sector) from Council Secretariat on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC said that it is a good opportunity for women artisans from Nyoma to visit new places and learn about new things. He urged the participants to ensure maximum participation and dedication in taking benefit of such trainings and tours. He also asked Sheep Husbandry Department to extend the tour by a day if required to make it beneficial for the artisans.
EC Agriculture Tsering Angdus stressed on the importance of becoming economically self sufficient by producing and selling local products. He said that the purpose of this exposure tour is to make women from Nyoma self independent by getting them trained in Pashmina and wool products. He said that the tour is to make them aware of work culture and progress in other villages.
Councilor Nyoma Stanzin Thupstan and Assistant Director Sheep Husbandary Department, Nyoma Dr Tundup Namgyal also spoke on the occasion.
The women group was also given a tour of Hill Council Assembly Hall and office premise to get them familiar with functioning of local governance.
