STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) Jammu, on Thursday organised a fund raising initiation ceremony for de-addiction centre here at Chamber House. M K Sinha, IGP Jammu Range was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Sujit Kumar, DIG Jammu-Kathua Zone; Tejinder Singh SSP Jammu, Vinay Sharma SP South, Sheema Qasba ASP and Dr Ruveda Salam Deputy Commissioner Income Tax were the Guests of Honour. After welcoming the dignitaries, CCI President, Rakesh Gupta explained on the need of a de-addiction centre in Jammu considering massive rise in drug menace in the society. He urged all members to donate liberally for effective working of the de-addiction centre to be run by J&K Police. Sujit Kumar, DIG Jammu-Kathua range gave a detailed presentation to spread awareness about increasing drug-menace and number of registered cases against drug-peddlers year-wise. Tejinder Singh, SSP Jammu explained that how aggressively the Police Department is fighting against menace of drugs and apprehending many drug peddlers. He reiterated that J&K Police is working sincerely and is committed to eradicate this social evil at any cost from the society. While addressing the gathering, IGP M K Sinha stressed upon the role of parents to teach their children to inculcate and imbibe healthy lifestyle and habits. He also referred to many quotes from Sanskrit and English explaining how to lead a selfless life and help others to get rid of drug menace. Later, a felicitation function was held wherein M K Sinha and Rakesh Gupta felicitated Inspector Parvej Sajad Ahmad, Inspector Chanchal Singh, Inspector Sunil Jasrotia, Inspector Gurnam Choudhary and Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia for their dedicated, sincere and outstanding performance. Dr Ruveda Salam, Deputy Commissioner Income Tax, Sugandha Mahajan, Sheema Qasba and Dr Sunniya Wani were also honoured on the occasion. The function concluded with Chamber President announcing CCI’s contribution towards the de-addiction centre and details of other members who voluntarily announced their contribution amounts for effective working of the De-Addiction Centre. Others present on the occasion included Rajesh Gupta (Senior Vice President), Rajeev Gupta (Junior Vice President), Manish Gupta (Secretary General), Gaurav Gupta (Secretary) and Ashu Gupta (Treasurer).
