JAMMU: CARE North-the first Psychological Centre in J and K, organised a two-day creative inter-active workshop which focused on training teachers and budding psychologist in the State on the topic ‘Basics of Counseling Skills and Counseling Micro Skills’. The workshop began at Amar Singh Club under the banner of CARE North Jammu and Psyuni Trust Delhi on Saturday.
Kavinder Gupta, Speaker Legislative Assembly was the Chief Guest while Brig Saranjit Sahney, Educational Consultant (Chandigarh) and Dr Arti Bakhshi, HoD Psychology Jammu University were the Guests of Honour on first day.
The resource persons for the workshop were Dr Ashutosh (Executive Director PSYUNI Trust-Delhi ) and Dr Chand Trehan (Director CARE Jammu).
Dr Chand Trehan informed the participants that keeping in mind the need of the hour in the State of J and K, there is a desperate need to create awareness amongst professionals, teachers, parents and public about the importance of counseling.
She further emphasised that the field of counseling in the State needs a boost, as till date its held at a very low priority.
The workshop enhanced the counseling skills of the participants whose learning till date was only knowledge based. The workshop also gave a platform to many young professionals to showcase their talent and expertise. Dr Ashutosh shared many tips and strategies to conduct counseling sessions.
Kavinder Gupta felicitated the team members Dr Sarita Sood (Academic Consultant ), Ritu Sachdeve (Assistant Director), Roshni (Student Coordinator) and Devika Mehta (Associate Faculty) and also reinforced the sentiments of the group CARE emphasising that such workshops on skill building were actually needed in the present scenario.
