STATE TIMES NEWS CHANDIGARH: Canara Bank Officers and workers have decided not to participate including proposed bank strike on January 8 and 9, called by left affiliated bank unions All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI). National organisation of Bank Officers/Workers (Industrial/Banking Units of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) is not participating in strike scheduled on January 8 and 9, 2019, all its industrial/banking units under public sector banks, private sector banks, Gramin banks and cooperative banks will also be not participating in this strike. “This strike seems to have been called for political motives and does not have any relation with issues of bank employees. As such, seven unions of United Forum of Bank Unions have not given their consent to participate in this strike and only two units out of nine from United Forum of Bank Unions (AIBEA and BEFI) shall be participating in this strike scheduled on January 8 and 9, 2019. UFBU had gone on strike twice during last year in which issues related to merger of Public Sector Banks and Wage revision were raised.
