SURANKOTE: Poonch Police on Friday claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling attempt by rescuing 12 bovines from two vehicles in Poonch District.
On the directions of SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey, a Naka was laid on Mughal Road under supervision of DySP Surankote Asgar Malik and SHO Surankote Ajay Jamwal, police spokesman said.
During checking, he said, two Tata mobiles bearing registration numbers JK22A-2506 and JK11B-4585 were intercepted. The aforesaid vehicles were carrying empty wooden boxes of apples on top, he said adding that on search it was found that both vehicles were loaded with bovines.
Both the drivers have been arrested and vehicles have been seized. Cases vide FIR Nos 219/17 and 220/17 under Section 188 RPC were registered against the accused persons at Police Station Surnakote and further investigation is going on.
