STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Remembering great ideologue and 1st President of Bharatiya Jana Sangha, Late Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee, BJP J&K paid floral tributes to the great leader, held a seminar and released books related to historical struggle of Jana Sangha & J&K on his death anniversary. In order to commemorate Balidan Diwas of Dr Mukherjee, Founder President of Bharatiya Jana Sangha, a function was organised at BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar. The function began with laying of wreath and paying floral tributes on the statue of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee, followed by a seminar and book release function organised at Vaidya Vishnu Dutt Sabhagar at the Syama Prasad Mukherjee Bhawan, Party Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar. Floral wreaths were laid by State President Ravinder Raina along with State General Secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul, MP (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh Manhas, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, former Minister Sat Sharma, State General Secretaries Dr Narinder Singh and Yudhvir Sethi. The seminar began with lighting of traditional lamp, followed by reciting of Vande Mataram. In his presidential address, Ravinder Raina said that the life and achievements of Dr Mukherjee are a constant source of inspiration for party and younger generation. Ashok Kaul, in welcome address, gave a detailed account of contributions and sacrifices of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Shamsher Singh Manhas urged everybody to follow the principles of the great leader. He was, is and will always remain as the source of inspiration for everybody. The seminar was followed by release of two books in Hindi viz, “Jammu-Kashmir Ki Sangharsh Gatha-Praja Parishad Ka Itihaas” and “100 Documents-a Reference Book”, compiled by Kulbhushan Mohtra, Incharge of Library and Documentation Department of BJP. The books were released by Party President, Ravinder Raina and other dignitaries. Those who assisted in translation of books were also honoured on the occasion. Stage proceedings were carried by Brig Anil Gupta, while formal vote of thanks was presented by Parneesh Mahajan. The event was organised by Policy Research and Good Governance Departments of the party. Rich tributes were paid to Dr Mukherjee on more than 1985 booths as well as programmes remembering the great ideologue were held at district, Mandal and ward offices across the State.
