STATE TIMES NEWS NOWSHERA: BJP National Vice-President and J and K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna, along with State Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi, local MLA Ravinder Raina and SC, ST, BC Development Corporation Vice-Chairperson Balbir Ram Rattan visited the border areas of Nowshera affected by the shelling from across the borders, met the families putting up in government schools and other temporary shelters. He also enquired about the facilities being provided there by the administration besides interacted with the affected people, including women, children, aged persons. While talking to the people living in relief camps at various places in Nowshera, Avinash Rai Khanna asked them about the provision of meals, electricity, drinking water, medicare etc. He was told by the people who have left their homes and hearths that the studies of their children have been affected, their cattle have got killed or severely injured and crops too are at the verge of damage. They demanded free ration for six months, Pakka bunkers and allotment of plots at safer places. Avinash Rai Khanna also handed over two quintals of dry milk incurred from Red Cross and sanitary items provided by State Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi to be distributed to the families who have migrated from the border areas and living in temporary shelters. Avinash Rai Khanna assured the affected families that the government at the Centre will be apprised of their problems and every effort will be made to ensure that whatever is required, reaches each family. Khanna appreciated the local administration for providing round the clock free medical care to the pregnant women putting up in the shelters and also expressed gratitude to the volunteer organisation Khalsa NGO from Patiala for setting up of help counters for the benefit of the border people living in camps in Nowshera. He also had praise for two police officers Ravinder Singh and Ashish Choudhary for putting extra ordinary efforts in rescuing of the people from affected villages. Addl.
