SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday distanced itself from the ‘mysterious’ visit of a group of ministers to New Delhi for mobilising support on protection of Article 35A, saying its ally Peoples Democratic Party is “free to do anything but we will go by the Supreme Court decision on the matter.”
“We will only stand with the decision of Supreme Court on Article 35A,” Ashok Kaul, BJP’s State General Secretary (Organisation) is reported to have stated to a Srinagar daily.
“That decision will be supreme for us”, he said.
Koul is reported to have said the PDP is free to do what it wants to. “No minister of our party would be part of the delegation visiting New Delhi,” he said.
Koul’s remarks follow reports of a delegation, comprising four PDP ministers– Haseeb Drabu, Abdul Haq Khan, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and Basharat Bukhari-visiting the union capital to mobolise support in favour of Article 35A.
