JAMMU: With peoples’ faith having been completely shattered in the present dispensation, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister said that if Jammu region faced an existential threat today it was more so from BJP than anybody else.
Addressing public meetings in Ward No 8, Ward No 4 and Ward No 32 of Jammu city, Harsh said that BJP’s duplicitous character, its lust for power, its lame duck posturing and vested interests of its opportunist leaders posed the gravest threat the very identity and culture of Dogras besides their survival as a class. He said that having reposed their faith in BJP and given it a massive, overwhelming mandate, the people of Jammu were the most disappointed lot today.
While the issue of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis had created an alarm in entire Jammu region, the BJP leaders made statements of evicting them umpteen times for public consumption only without any follow up action during the last three and a half years, he lamented. Likewise, said Singh, the withdrawal of minutes pertaining to tribal settlements also met the same fate. The share of Jammu region in services had been obhorrably marginalized with mere crumbs falling in its kitty much to the chagrin and disgust of unemployed youth, rued Harsh. And contrarily the BJP was fully endorsing the separatist agenda of Kashmir centric forces by having declined CBI probe in Rasana case, by its endorsement of the polices for stone-pelters, separatists and militants and its acquiescence to the decisions to shelve Sainik Colonies and KP Township Project in Kashmir.
He regretted that the then Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh had even gone to the extent of saying that dreaded terrorist Burhan Wani would not have been killed, had the govt known about his presence in the hide out busted by security forces.
Accusing the BJP of having sold the mandate of Jammu for power, Singh said that the major threat to Jammu’s survival as an entity and to its identity was from the opportunist BJP which could go to any extent to remain glued to the seat of power.
The organizer of the programme at New Rehari Ward No 8, Rajiv Mahajan while flaying the BJP-PDP alliance for refusing CBI probe in Rasana case, called upon the people to support the peoples’ movement for justice and fair deal. He regretted that BJP had let down the people of Jammu by dubbing them as communal and supporters of criminals merely to keep its ally in good humour.
Among those who spoke on the occasions include Rajinder Gupta, K.S Salathia, Krishma Rajput, Raghav Talwar, Manju Singh, Gagan Pratap Singh, Parshottam Parihar, Neeraj Gupta, Pratap Singh, Vinod Singh and Rajesh Gondhi.
