STATE TIMES NEWSBHADARWAH: Bhadarwah region is experiencing fresh snowfall since early morning on Tuesday, even as rains lashed plains and other areas of Chenab Valley. Jammu-Srinagar National Highway closed for traffic. The famous Padri meadow of Bhadarwah recorded about 2 feet of fresh snowfall since morning, while Chattargala pass on Bhadarwah-Basohli Road recoded 2.5 fresh snowfall. There are reports of snowfall in other areas in the higher reaches of the Chenab valley, including Marwah, Dachhan, Gandoh, Kota Top, Keinthi Dhar, Banihal, Gool and Batote. The plains of the Chenab region are witnessing torrential rains. Due to continue snowfall, temperature has further dropped to minus, forcing people to remain indoors and lit traditional fireplaces (Bhukharies) and Firepot (Kangri) to save themselves from the bone chilling cold. Due to fresh snowfall on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway NH44 got again blocked for Traffic and hundreds of Vehicles got stranded. According to an traffic official , NH44 got closed due to heavy snowfall on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel. Hundreds of trucks stranded between Ramban and Jawahar Tunnel(JT).Efforts are on to clear snow from road around JT and resume traffic. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted improvement in the weather from tomorrow morning.
