Organisers felicitate 110 years old Ganga Ram
Sports Reporter KATRA: Benia Min of J&K Police and a resident of Basantgarh in Udhampur defeated Umesh of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh to bag the 8th Hut-Parthal Dangal which was organised by Hut-Parthal Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Deepak Wazir and Rattan Singh (ex- Sarpanch). Renowned wrestler from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP and J&K participated in this day-long Dangal which was witnessed by a healthy crowd of around 10,000 people. Commandant 6th Battalion of CRPF Katra, Jatinder Kumar Gupta was Chief Guest, who witnessed the whole event and encouraged the competing wrestlers. Former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), social activist and sports promoter, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the event. Retired lecturer, Mubarik Singh and Sarpanch Hut, Sham Lal were the Guests of Honour. The main bout winner, Benia Min was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 60,000 while runners-up, Umesh was presented with Rs 40,000. In second main bout, Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi defeated Sumit of Mathura in UP to receive a cash prize of Rs 12,000 and Rs 9,000 respectively. In all, 56 bouts decided in this day-long Dangal. Ranjeet of J&K Police was declared as best wrestler. In the meantime, the organisers also felicitated senior most citizen of village Hut, Ganga Ram (Age 110 years) and presented with gifts. Prominent among those present were Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Sohan Singh (Sonu), Om Parkash Verma, Lochan Singh, Surinder Kumar Bhagat, Dina Nath (Contractor), Sarpanchs Baldev Raj Sharma, Surinder Kumar, Naveen Sharma, Ravi Kumar Gouttam and Naib Sarpanch, Maan Singh as also Haji Ghulam Nabi, Mohd. Shrief, Pandit Chuni Lal, Govind Sharma, Bodh Raj, Mohinder Singh, Ex- Sarpanch, Baldev Singh and Abrahim. Members and technical officials, who helped in smooth conduct of this Dangal were Rattan Singh, Prittam Singh Wazir, Sarpanch Sham Lal, Mubarik Singh, Prabh Dayal, Mohan Singh, Prem Chand, Som Raj Sharma, Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Sunil Singh (Sonu) Chuni Lal, Paras Ram, Atam Singh, Sunny, Tulinder Kumar, Mohd Fareed, Raj Singh, Allah Mai (Ranga) and Murli Dhar Munna. Other Results: Bhalla of Bahadurgarh (Haryana) beat Nissar of Doda for the third malli bout; Dheeraj of Mathura (UP) beat Gopal of Jindrah, Kulbir Singh of Domana beat Raj Singh of Samba, Vikas of Panipat beat Murad Ali of Domana, Nadeem of Doda beat Panku of Jammu; Vikas of Haryana beat Babba of Domana Akhara Jammu; Ajay Sharma of Udhampur beat Deva of Mathura; Yudhvir of Haryana beat Rakesh of Billawar; Abhimanu of Delhi beat Bablu of Basantgarh and Amir Khan of Basantgarh and Amir Khan of J&K Police beat Devinder of Mathura.
