The latest ‘story’ in Kashmir making waves is an ‘alleged’ threat by Hizbul Mujahideen to behead separatist Hurriyat leaders for calling Kashmir a political struggle instead of a religious war for the creation of an “Islamic State”.
The threat might have caused ripples across the political spectrum but those watching Kashmir scenario keenly can’t help to have a big laugh. The so-called threat is nothing but a loosely evolved ploy to give cover to Syed Ali Shah Geelani and company in the Hurriyat against whom the Indian nation is lately getting pro-active. The pro-active nation, however, does not include the Pak and terror apologists among pseudo seculars and liberals. The continued humiliation of Indian soldiers in the Valley has given birth to a new India, which sees through the heavy dose of appeasement dispensed for seven decades that has emboldened anti-national elements to the hilt.
Interestingly, the circulation of the Hizbul threat to Hurriyat leaders comes in the wake of growing demand across the country for stripping off the security and other concessions to Geelani brand of separatists, who have fattened at the cost of poor Indian tax-payers hard earned money. It also comes at a time when an upcoming national television channel has exposed ‘terror funding racket’ to Hurriyat Conference through Shabir Shah.
Rewind the latest video clip, making rounds in the traumatized Valley, the self-styled local HM ‘commander’ Zakir Musa has called Hurriyat leaders “hypocrites, infidels, followers of evil and warned to chop off their heads “if they create hurdles in the path of making Kashmir an Islamic state”. He is reported to have said that the heads (of Hurriyat leaders) would be hanged in Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
The Hurriyat leaders have not yet responded to the threat. If at all it is not their own creation to blackmail India for continuing concessions like security and other freebies to them, which, according to reports, are under review, not as per any policy of Government of India but due to growing demand against Hurriyat leaders in Indian patriotic intelligentsia, the Hurriyat leaders will maintain a silence. They may not choose to condemn such threats as they are working on different planks to foil the ‘review’. The Hizbul threat is only a cover to their ploys. First, they have succeeded to rope in India’s pseudo secularists to initiate a dialogue with them. A high level non-BJP delegation, to be led by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, is planning to talk to ‘stakeholders of Kashmir problem’. The disgruntled and worn out BJP stalwart Yashwant Sinha has already undertaken such a sojourn to give respectability to Pak sponsored Hurriyat. Second and most importantly, the Hurriyat trio-Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had recently stated that the ‘freedom struggle in Kashmir has nothing to do with ISIS or al-Qaeda, as there was no role for these groups in ‘Kashmir’s political struggle’. This is a sinister ploy.
Geelani and company knows that exposure about presence of ISIS operatives in Kashmir will turn turtle the Pakistan’s applecart as the world is in war against the Islamic State and it (international community) may have to support any Indian military campaign against Jihad in the Valley. Therefore, they are trying to preempt any such move.
Importantly also, the Hurriyat hypocrites do not want to surrender ‘freebies’ being provided by the Government of India, which, in any case are under active review at the Prime Minister’s level.
Why the so-called threat of the Hizbul Mujahideen ‘commander’ has little takers among Kashmir watchers is because they know that this outfit is the military wing of Jamat-e-Islami, the backbone of Hurriyat Conference. Many a times, United Jehad Council supremo, Mohammed Yousf Shah alias Syed Sallahudin has described hardcore hawk Geelani as his ‘Ameer’ (chief). Why should Geelani’s own outfit hurl a threat to him unless there is motivation? The answer to this is simple. The threat-perception has been generated to stall the investigations against Hurriyat leaders, who are currently under scanner over receipt of ISI funding and to avert any move of stripping their security and stopping concessions. Now it is for the Centre to read between the lines, as far as Zakir Musa’s video clipping is concerned. One can only hope that New Delhi will not again allow itself to get in the trap laid by Hurriyat Conference. Buying the argument of threat and continuing with the concessions to India bashers will prove suicidal.
If New Delhi plays its cards smartly, the heads will in any case get hanged in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, not by terrorist commanders like Zakir Musa but by the people of Kashmir.
