JAMMU: Clinching the first position amongst most clean stations on Indian Railways in both ‘A’ and ‘A1′ Categories in the cleanliness survey by the Quality Council of India or in other words by a third party audit, Beas station on the Amritsar-Jalandhar City section of Firozpur Division of Northern Railway has created an emulative record for its standard of cleanliness.
As per Ministry of Railways’ Swacch Rail Report, Beas has scored 873.9 points whereas Visakhapatnam has scored 853.1 points out of 1000. Beas has therefore been adjudged as the cleanest station on Indian Railways in both the categories with considerable margin.
Beas is renowned internationally for being the seat and nerve center of ‘Radha Swami Satsang Beas’ (RSSB). The quiet hush and meek ambience at the station are evocative of everyman’s longing for that natural piety and spirituality. During the last year the spiritual organisation had further improved the circulating areas of the station creating smooth parking convenience for the rail passengers and also extending a wide green cover to a vast expanse of dry lands creating a picturesque landscaping effect.
As part of their social endeavour, the Radha Swami Satsang Beas has provided additional volunteers to add vigor to Swacch Rail, Swacch Bharat Mission and volunteers contribute their Shramdaan round the clock. The volunteers also offer concierge services to the elderly and needy through specially designed trolleys free of cost. Radha Swami Satsang Beas had also provided important additions to the station through contributions in construction of station circulating area, entries and exit areas, parking lots, parks and sprawling lawns.
