JAMMU: Block Development Officer (BDO) Nagrota, Dr Syed Namaz Nahin Tabasam Shah sought support from business community of Kandoli Bazaar to put an end to the use of polythene bags in the block.
The issue was discussed in meeting chaired by BDO Nagrota Dr Syed Namaz Nahin Tabasam Shah.
Naib Tehsildar (Nagrota), Bansi Lal and Beopar Mandal President Kishore Sharma besides Hem Raj, Arjun Singh, Madan Lal Sharma, Bushan Lal Gupta, Subash Chander, Ram Rattan Sharma, Ved Pal Sharma and Joginder Lal were also present. Ex-sarpanch Nagrota, Rameshwar Dutt was also present on the occasion.
The BDO sought help of the businessmen to stop the use of polythene bags permanently and assured help from the department to ensure cleanliness and development of the market area.
President Kandoli Beopar Mandal, Kishore Sharma vowed to support anti-polythene drive and demanded that they should be given one week’s time to completely end the use of polythene bags in entire market.
“In case, any shopkeeper is found to be using polythene bags. The department can impose fine on the violator. Most of the shopkeepers are already using jute bags or paper bags,” said Kishore while handing over a resolution which was unanimously signed by the shopkeepers.
