RAJOURI: In its endeavour to make concrete efforts to bring about tangible results in the declining sex ratio in the district, BBBP team under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, District Development Commissioner, on Thursday organised awareness programmes, held community meetings and conducted door to door visits at various parts of the district.
Oath taking ceremonies, plantation drives and rallies were also organised as part of the week long celebrations that started on October 9.
Several mothers parenting girl children were felicitated from different zones of block Nowshera at SDH Nowshera by health officials. Dy CMO Dr Anees distributed sanitary napkins at ANMT school Rajouri.
Apart from awareness camps on importance of women and girl child, AWWs alongwith ASHAs paid door to door visits during the day to aware the villagers about importance of balanced sex ratio.
Community meetings were also organised on importance of girl child and the participants there resolved to make all our efforts to compliment the efforts of BBBP team.
Dr. Abdul Khabir, District Social Welfare Officer has emphasised on making concerted efforts by all stakeholders to balance the declining sex ratio.
Special mention of strict implementation of PCPNDT Act and to ensure that there is no drop-out of girl students at any stage of education.
