Dear Editor, Now when our Prime Minister is simplifying the procedures in all the departments of the country like one nation, one Adhar card, one nation one ration card one nation one time election. It is regrettable that the revenue authorities of Basohli, instead of helping and co operating the people in the matters of granting PRC to the natives, try to find out the reasons how best they can put the matter off in spite the reality that the applicant’s request is supported by 99.9 percent of the most relevant and necessary revenue documents. On 13 June 2019 I applied for PRC for my niece Vanshika, Daughter of Anil Kumar Padha resident of Basohli W.No 4 presently residing at Kathua, which she needed to seek further admission in the law institute. Having satisfied the concerned authority with what she had and what not and finding. 1 % short fall in the documents ( Ration card and voterlist ) the applicant was bluntly denied issuance of the PRC on the fissiparous grounds on 2 nd July, after 20 days, unmindful about the career of the gilrl waiting for the PRC. Due to the arrogant attitude of the revenue authority one precious year of the girl was lost. As to who should be blamed for the lapse, law or the the applicant herself. There are certain questions which need be answered in the interest of the gullible people of the state; on what grounds (documents) the Orias, Jharkhandis, people from MP, Punjabis, people not belonging to kathua district were granted PRC by the Basohli revenue department? who and how the Rohingyas, Bangladeshis and persons from other states living in Jammu managed to get the PRC when they are not supposed to have the relevant revenue record with them. When the PRC is valid in the entire state of J&K, there should be no consideration for the place from where the ration card is issued or casting a vote in any part of the state tantamount to his claim for the PRC even if there is a major shortfall of the documents. The revenue officers must keep one thing in mind that the rules and the laws are for facilitating the people work and not to clog it for one or the other reason. Compelling the clients to attach the documents which are not needed must be avoided . The rules and laws are the friends of the people and not their foes. Follow the visionary PM and don’t be lost in the past practices of red tapism. Shiv Kumar Padha, Basohli.
