Barely 45 days after the General Secretary of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party Qazi Afzal justified stone-pelting in Kashmir, saying the pelters were doing so in self-defence, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah walked a huge step forward (or backward) by terming pelters performing a job for ‘nation’ (nation is Kashmir and not India for the former Chief Minister and Union Energy Minister).
Taking U-turn and ranting anti-national sentiments by all those, swearing by Constitution of India while grazing in greener pastures, raises one pertinent question as to what India has invested in Kashmir during the past seven decades. When it comes to the day of reckoning, they all are the same-India bashers. Several years ago, they used to play to galleries only out of desperation of being out of power. Now this razor thin difference has also gone. Mufti Mohammed Sayeed expressed the gratitude to Pakistan, terrorists and separatists on the first day of his taking over as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Ironically, Mufti was in the company of patriotic BJP stalwarts at that point of time. Farooq Abdullah is doing the same while seeking entry into Lok Sabha. Just a few days back-on the day of filing his nomination papers-he took an oath on the Constitution of India. But it hardly matters.
They are what they have been-anything but patriots. Farooq Abdullah may or may not get elected to the Lok Sabha but the people of India have now seen the right faces behind ugly masks. And, these ugly masks will continue to remain in limelight, courtesy gutless Indian leaders, who have always shamed the nation by demonstrated wickedness. History is replete of instances how anti-Indian elements have got rehabilitated and rewarded. And they will continue to get incentivized by shameless Indian leaders, no matter which shade of politics they represent.
A compatriot has a reason to question whether India has any patriot in the Valley where hundreds and thousands of soldiers have offered supreme sacrifice in 70 years.
Stone pelting, which Farooq Abdullah glorifies as a heroic ‘nationalistic’ service for the ‘nation of Kashmir’ is actually pan-Islamic campaign of Intifaada-being used as substitute to terrorism by Pakistan’s ISI to keep Kashmir on boil.
Therefore, for ordinary but brave patriotic Indians, it is necessary to know the ‘cult of stone-pelters of Kashmir’ which Farooq Abdullah like people glorify for furthering their personal agenda. The new way of resistance in the format of stone pelting or Intifada took organized manifestation in 2010. Actually, the strategy to focus on stone pelting rather than indulging in grenade attacks and gun-fights stems from the fact that later is being seen as terrorism and the West is averse to it. At a time when global war against terrorism is on, the anti-India strategists across the border and within the Valley have consciously switched over to Intifada, the concept first utilized in modern times in 1952 within the Kingdom of Iraq, when socialist and communist parties took to the streets to protest the Hashemite monarchy, with inspiration of the 1952 Egyptian Revolution. In the Palestinian context, with which it is particularly associated, the word referred to attempts to “shake off” the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the First and Second Intifadas, where it was originally chosen to connote “aggressive nonviolent resistance”, a meaning it bore among Palestinian students in struggles in the 1980s and which they adopted as less confrontational than terms in earlier militant rhetoric since it bore no nuance of violence. The first outbreak of Intifada was known as the war of the stones for the constant scenes of Palestinians throwing rocks against the Israeli army and police on daily clashes. This methodology is being replicated in Kashmir with sinister designs.
The perpetrators of Intifada in Kashmir are working on two fronts; first to keep Kashmir on boil in order to gain world-wide attention and second to portray themselves as victims of Indian suppression, which is why teenage boys and children are being pushed into this wretched campaign. No sooner a child is killed or maimed, the second line of terrorists in the shape of terror glorifying brigade takes to social media and conventional print and electronic media to cry hoarse on human rights violations. Now the so-called mainstream leaders too have joined the bandwagon. This is alarming.
