RAMBAN: Banihal town observed a complete Bandh on the call given by local youth organisation ‘Youth Against Evils (YAE)’ in which all the business establishments remained shut on Friday in protest for eradication of drugs from Ramban in general and Banihal in particular. A peaceful protest Dharna was also held at Tourist Sarai Banihal in which representatives all political parties, social organisations and business committees participated where religious scholars, district officers and local administration including Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary, Tehsildar Banihal Mohammed Shafiq Wani, BMO Banihal Dr Mohd Yousuf Khan, senior leader Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday, Mufti Zulfikar and others delivered a lecture against drugs. All the participants aside from the political affiliations expressed serious concern on increasing graph of drugs use in Banihal town which has created mess among the people and various school going children and other local youths of the area are the worst victims of the hell bend activity in Banihal.
Volunteers of YAE urged upon the general public to join this common cause so that the future of budding youths can be saved. Youth were asked to ensure drug free Banihal and join hands against evils and assist social organisations so that this biggest challenge can be completely rooted out
In concluding address Stage Secretary Alyas Banihali thanked general public and administration for their whole hearted cooperation.
Youth organisation also hailed active participation of Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday, Tariq Ahmad Dar, Shokat Ahmad Kashmiri, Ayoub Zahid, Shorab Wani, Mohd Ishaq Malik, Shadaab Shaheen, Javeed Wani, Asif Iqbal, Prince Kaiser Hameed, Reyaz Ahmad Wani, Babar Wani, Sehran and various other volunteers of youth organisation for peaceful and successful conduct of programme and assured full cooperation to the local administration for this common cause.
Later volunteers formally named the Railway Station Chowk as ‘Irfan Iqbal Chowk’ on the demand of members of various travel agencies.
