JAMMU: Sainik Colony Football Club won the inaugural match of the Banarsi Dass Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Young Rovers Club at GGM Science College Ground, here on Saturday.
In the opening tie, Sainik Colony defeated Shaheen Football Club (Blue) by two goals to nil. Shan (26th) and Basu (63rd) were the scorers. Earlier, the event was declared open by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rajesh Gupta, who was Chief Guest. Principal GGM Science College, Dr Ajit Angral was Guest of Honour. Among others present were Dr Nirmolak Singh, S.M Gill, Narinder Gupta, Paramjeet Singh, Krishan Lal, Fiestus Sotra and Mohan Lal. The Organising Committee of the tournament included Paramjit Singh, Bharat Bhushan, Rakesh and Vishwamitar.
As many as three matches have been scheduled for second day of the tournament tomorrow. In all, 18 teams are taking part in this knock-out event.
