NEW DELHI: As Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, is the channelising agency of the National Level Apex Corporations under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which provide funds for reserved categories to the tune of 85-90 per cent ( State’s share 5-10 per cent), the Vice Chairperson of this Corporation, Balbir Ram Rattan, during his recent visit to the Union Capital, met Union Minister Thaber Chand Gehlot at Shastri Bhawan, here on Sunday. Balbir handed over a booklet briefing the ten months work of the Vice Chairperson.
The booklet ‘Vice Chairperson at work’ highlights welfare schemes for the unemployed people of the weaker sections, organising of awareness camps to emphasise the corporation schemes, VC having direct interactions with the unemployed members of the reserved categories like Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Safaikaramcharis, people with physical disabilities and those from national level Notified Minorities, besides holding official meetings from time to time and paying visits to the loaned units for physically verification in different districts in the State.
The four Apex Corporations at National Level which come under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and provides funds to the J&K SC, ST, BC Development Corporation as their channelising agency are National Scheduled Castes Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation, (NBCFDC), National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC) and National Safai Karamchari Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC).
Two other Apex Corporations for Scheduled Tribes and Minorities come under the Union Ministries of Tribal and Minorities Affairs respectively.
