STATE TIMES NEWS VIJAYPUR: The annual fair (Mela) of Baba Sidh Goria Nath commenced on Sunday in the Shrine of Baba Sidh Goria Nath Ji at Swankha area of Vijaypur in District Samba. The devotees from different parts of the State and outside throng every year in the month of June-July and the Mela continue for seven days. Thousands of devotees started pouring in the premises of the temple since the morning and were seen curiously waiting for their turn to pay obeisance. The people also took a customary dip in the sacred pond situated near shrine, which is believed to have curative powers and then offered prayers at the temple. The Shrine of Baba Sidh Goria is prominently known in the State and the devotees from different parts of the State and outside throng every year in the month of June-July. Former Industries Minister Chander Parkash Ganga and Surjit Singh Slathia also visited the Shrine and took blessings of Baba Sidh Goria Nath while the senior officer of the District administration Samba were also visited in the shrine. The District administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mela like uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, Medicare and security. During the week long festivity a huge market comes up at the site of the fair, shops and stalls selling food items and all sorts of wares are set up.
