JAMMU: Aditi Welfare Trust (AWT) XI and Vishal Cricket Club registered convincing wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing Fifth Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup being Jointly organised by Christian Sports Organisation Jammu and Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu at Parade Cricket Ground, here on Wednesday.
Earlier in the first match, AWT XI defeated Shastri Cricket Club by two runs.
Batting first AWT XI scored 154 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 20 overs. Bawa was the top scorer with 43 runs followed by Mohit and Abhishek, who contributed 25 and 17 runs respectively.
For Shastri Club, Sawan claimed three wickets while Gagandeep and Varun shared two and Vicky and Deepak picked one wicket each.
In reply, Shastri Club failed to chase the target and managed to score 152 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs thus lost the match by two runs. Sawan, Chander and Varun were the main scorers with 39, 35 and 17 runs respectively.
For AWT XI, Sourav was the wrecker-in-chief, who claimed four important wickets while Kamal took three and Prithvi picked two wickets. For his match winning bowling performance, Sourav was adjudged as Man of the Match.
In another match played today, Vishal Club defeated Media XI by 59 runs. Batting first, Vishal club scored 184 runs for the loss of five wickets. Divansh played a fine inning of 57 runs while Abhinav Puri added 35 and Jatin and Rohan Gill chipped in 28 and 15 runs respectively. For Media XI, Vicky grabbed two wickets while Yash, Faheem and Ranjeet shared apiece each.
In reply, Media XI failed to chase and was bowled out for 125 runs. Faheem with 35, Pardeep 20 and Des Raj with 12 runs were the main scorers.
For Vishal Club, Ramandeep picked three wickets, Abhinav took two and Ramesh Kotwal, Rajesh Gill, Rohan Gill, Shamsher Singh and Jatin shared one each. Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Saleem ur Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Madan Mohan, Ashok, Sandeep and Vinod.
In today’s matches, Jathin K. Subarimanium, Branch Manager South Indian Bank Jammu was the Chief Guest who was introduced with the participating teams. He appreciated the organising committee for conducting tournament on the occasion of Christmas.
Fixtures: Arsh Cricket Club versus Mandal Cricket Club at 9:30 AM and Game Changer XI versus Road and Safety XI at 12:30 PM.
