STATE TIMES NEWSPOONCH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & technology of Jammu organized Farmers scientist interaction programme and exposure visit in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Poonch, in which more than 80 farmers participated. The farmers visited demonstration units, seed production plots and Nursery plots at KVK Poonch. Dr Ajay Gupta I/c. Sr Scientist and Head demonstrated the technologies adopted by KVK Poonch for enhancing crop productivity and minimizing input use in agriculture. He also gave a lecture to the participating farmers about importance of quality seed, seed treatment and timely weed management for enhancing crop yield in rabi crops. Dr Sudhir Singh Jamwal elaborated about use of quality planting material and importance of grafted fruit plants during visit of fruit nursery. He also deliberated about nursery raising techniques in vegetable crops. Sardar Jasbir Singh (AEO) elaborated various Government schemes for the welfare of farmers. A farmer scientist interaction was also organized and scientists and Officers of Department replied to various queries of the farmers. The farmers also discussed about availability of seed in their panchayats in the coming Kharif season for the benefit of farmers. The Programme attended with vote of thanks presented by Dr Sharma.
