Awareness on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao imparted

POONCH: With an aim to generate awareness about various welfare services meant for girl child and women Army organised an awareness lecture on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” at Government High School, Chhajla in Poonch District.
The event was organised to bring awareness among the members of society to include youth and school children about importance of girl child, their education and rights. The lecture elaborated on the abhorable condition of the women in our society, especially in remote areas inspite of the development and progress in our country. The speaker highlighted the inequality, lack of opportunity and ill treatment of women in various parts of the country. The speaker also brought out the need to save the girl child as imbalance in the male to female ratio is causing problems in the society which needs to be addressed on priority.
The awareness drive was well received by the audience and they acknowledged that the girls also need to be provided equal education and growth opportunities as given to boys. Army is committed to spread awareness in the remote regions by conducting lectures, workshops and seminars on important social issues.
