STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The induction ceremony of MBBS students of ASCOMS was held in the College auditorium here on Friday. This was the first-ever ceremony of its kind to be held in Medical Colleges of the State. D K Batra, Joint Secretary was the Chief Guest during the ceremony, which was attended by MBBS students, their parents, management, faculty members and other staff members of the institution. Dr Ravinder K Gupta, Prof and Head Department of Paediatrics and Vice Chairman of Sports, Cultural & Academics gave a brief outlay of the ceremony and other activities taking place in the college. Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, in his address assured the parents about the academic safety of children and advised students to work hard for the benefit of mankind. He further informed the students that this is the first batch of new curriculum adopted by the Medical Council of India and told them that the hiccups to be faced for implementation of the programme shall be removed, as and when arise. He also elaborated on academic motto of the institution and emphasized that rich learning environment is created for all students. He advised students to learn from their mistakes and not to get deterred by any type of unsuccessful attempt as every unsuccessful attempt is a learning process. Dr Vanita Gupta, Prof and Head of Department of Anatomy administered Hippocratic Oath to all participating students. All the proceedings were conducted by Usha Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry. The event was jointly organised by the Departments of Anatomy, Physiology & Biochemistry.
