While the support base for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of abrogation of Article 370 is growing across the Jammu region, as elsewhere in the country, the people are realizing how adversely this provision has obstructed the growth and development in Jammu and Kashmir during the past nearly seven decades. The youth in particular are jubilant over the prospect of big industry and corporate sector making way to the two Union Territories in the months and years to come that will help in tackling unemployment problem.
Dr Pradeep, BJP leader said that the historical blunder has been rectified with the strong decision by the Prime Minister, who has impressed the world with his leadership qualities and decisive leadership. He said the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A is a timely decision of the Central Government. He said that present BJP government has, in right perspective, understood the feelings of the people of Jammu region which the earlier dispensations never bothered to understand. He also said that the successive governments never projected the sufferings of the people of this mountainous region before the Central Government thus forcing people to reel under deprivation and dearth of facilities. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for fulfilling aspirations of Jammu by scrapping Articles 370 and 35A.
Anshu Sharma, college student, exuded confidence that abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A will open up new vistas of opportunities for the youth of Jammu. So far they were getting step motherly treatment in employment as well as educational sectors. He said the barrier of Article 370 has been removed which had emotionally and psychologically created fissures between Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country. He hoped that this significant decision taken by Union Government will open new horizons for the younger generations, which were mere a dream for them till date. He said now the opportunities would be available to them at par with the country. He appealed to the youth to come forward and take benefit of the schemes launched by the Modi government for welfare of people of the country.
Naveen Sharma, a J&K youth working in Corporate Sector at Greator Noida said that the common masses have whole-heartedly supported the move of Modi government for repealing of this controversial law. He said that Kashmiri politicians have misused the provisions of Articles 370 and hoped that removal of the special status will bring investment and development in the upcoming two Union Territories. He said abrogation of aforesaid Article is beginning of the rising of ‘New Jammu and Kashmir’, where everyone can enjoy rights without any fear or discrimination. He said that Modi government has launched welfare policies for the weaker sections of society and hoped that the poor segments of Jammu and Kashmir will get the benefit of centrally sponsored schemes.
Advocate Bindu Sar Abrol said that the Kashmir-centric politicians have exploited the people for their personal motives under the garb of Articles 370 and 35A. He said the people of the Kashmir Valley too are happy with the abrogation of Article 370, as this has been a huge obstacle in the path of development. He said youth of J&K were forced to move towards metro cities in search of their livelihood. He said with the abrogation of these articles people of J&K will see new era of development with the reorganization of the State. He emphasized that Modi government has taken a wise decision by abrogating the Articles 370 and 35A. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make all possible efforts to bring developmental projects in Jammu at par with rest of the country.
J.P Sharma, social activist welcomed the abrogation of Articles 370 saying this was detrimental to the overall interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He hoped that the scrapping of this provision will pave way for the people of this region to enjoy all the rights which they were denied earlier. “Now funds coming from the Centre would be equally distributed between Jammu and Kashmir regions,” he said and exuded confidence that people of Jammu region will witness unprecedented growth and the region will get economic as well as educational boost. Sharma on behalf of Jammu people hoped that this time the Chief Minister should be from the Jammu region.
