STATE TIMES NEWSBhadarwah: In the run-up to 71st Republic Day celebrations, Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) based at Doda organised a marathon titled “Run for Fun” as a prelude to the Republic day celebrations on Saturday. The half marathon was organized to inculcate the sense of responsibility, oneness, communal harmony and brotherhood among the participants especially youth, who sweated it out with enthusiasm despite chilly weather. The 5 KM marathon in which beside officers of 4RR, 10RR and common citizens, 500 male and 100 female students drawn from different colleges and schools of Bhadarwah, Doda and women empowerment centre participated was flagged-off from Ganpat Bridge Pul Doda by CO 10 RR Col Abhishek Rawat. While greeting the gathering on the eve of 71st Republic Day of the Nation, Col Abhishek Rawat urged upon youths to follow the principles of unity in diversity, mutual brotherhood and communal harmony. He also appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants especially students. The marathon concluded at Sports Stadium Doda where participants were received by senior officers of District administration. At the end, 20 cash prizes were given to top 20 participants including 10 boys and girls.
